TRUYOU - NOT JUST A NAME...

TruYou, it's a sincere statement of how we approach every one of our clients! We take the time to get to know you; we’re passionate and dedicated to making you feel as comfortable and confident in your own skin as possible.

As a registered nurse and with over ten years in appearance medicine, I have extensive experience in the industry. I've worked in a number of different clinic environments, as well as managing and owning successful appearance medicine and beauty therapy businesses in the past.

TruYou has always been a collaboration of some of my most respected colleagues. We are a doctor-led clinic ensuring you receive the highest-quality treatments and products, the safest care and best results. If you’ve been to see us, you know we love a laugh and good chat, which is always the best part of any of our treatments.

Here at TruYou, we’re all about enhancing your natural beauty and bringing out the best in you - we love helping you find the 'TRUYOU'!

MEET THE TEAM

Chrissie Dawkins
Business Owner/Nurse

I started my career as a Registered Nurse contracting in many different areas of the health sector, including GP practice nursing and palliative care. I have previously owned a successful Appearance Medicine and Beauty Therapy clinic in Auckland.

During my time within the industry, I have gained a strong background in facial assessment and administering Botulinumtoxin-A and Dermal Fillers, as well as performing collagen induction skin corrective therapies, such as Dermal Needling and Fractional CO2 Laser. I am also experienced in spider vein laser, hair removal and photo rejuvenation.

I created TruYou with the vision of providing specialised treatments and expert care, with an honest approach. Our collaboration means that we can offer these services in  locations convenient to you.

Kellie O'Keeffe
Nurse

I am a highly-skilled and dedicated healthcare professional with extensive experience in diverse nursing environments, having worked in both Australia and New Zealand. I have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient and family centred care. Throughout my career, I have honed my skills in fast-paced and challenging settings, including Emergency Departments, HDU, CCU, Medical/Surgical, and Psychiatric wards.

My passion for ongoing professional development drives me to seek roles that present both new challenges and opportunities and I am excited to be joining Chrissie and the team offering Wellness and Infusion Therapy in Northland.

Dr Erik McClain
MD, FRACP

Dr Erik McClain brings a wealth of international experience, clinical leadership, and patient-centred care to TruYou NZ.

Born in San Leandro, California, Erik completed his medical training in Portland, Oregon, before making the move to New Zealand in 2012. Since then, he has dedicated his career to strengthening healthcare delivery across Aotearoa.

Erik worked with Waikato DHB for 10 years, followed by three years in Tairāwhiti, and now serves within the Northern Region. He is currently:

  • Clinical Lead – Northern Region Hospital in the Home Services

  • Clinical Lead – Te Toka Tumai Hospital in the Home (Auckland City Hospital)

Throughout his career, Erik has been passionate about creating innovative healthcare solutions that make access easier while improving patient outcomes. His work in Hospital in the Home reflects a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care in more flexible, patient-focused ways.

At his core, Erik describes himself as: “An empathetic, patient-focused problem solver.”

His decision to work alongside Chrissie and TruYou NZ came from a shared belief that healthcare is about more than acute medicine. It is about how people feel — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Erik recognises that the way a person sees themselves and experiences their health plays a powerful role in overall wellbeing.

Outside of medicine, Erik is a proud husband and father to two girls, and values family life alongside his professional commitments.
