ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS

When we frown, squint, laugh or use other facial muscles repeatedly, our skin creases and causes furrows.

Youthful skin has the ability to quickly repair the damage caused by this repeated muscle action, and therefore the skin remains smooth and unlined.  As we ‘grow up’, our skin cells slow down and become lazy, no longer able to repair the damage as quickly.  As a result, lines and wrinkles remain in the skin, even when the muscles are at rest.

Ideally, treatment includes improving overall skin health to speed up the action of the lazy skin cells in repairing the damage.  This process can be greatly helped by relaxing the action of these muscle, giving our skin cells time to catch up.  Over time, lines and wrinkles will be softened or disappear completely in some cases.

Botulinum Toxin type A is a temporary muscle relaxant.  It works by preventing the nerve communicating with the muscle – everything still works independently – just the muscle isn’t listening!

The most popular areas for treatment with Botulinum Toxin type A include:

  • The frown
  • The forehead
  • ‘Crows Feet’ at the outer corners of the eye

Botulinum Toxin type A is also used to help with excessive underarm sweating; a condition known as ‘hyperhidrosis’ – this anti-wrinkle treatment can be life changing for some people!

Botulinum Toxin type A is a prescription only medicine and should only administered by trained professionals. To find out if this anti-wrinkle treatment is right for you, contact us for a free facial assessment.
