Lifting Threads
As we age, our bodies gradually produce less and less collagen, which leads to an 80% reduction in skin thickness by about the age of 70. This loss of volume and strength is a large factor in the creation of skin laxity and static lines and wrinkles. As the skin grows weaker, it's no longer able to support the tissues beneath it adequately, meaning that gravity pulls it downwards and stretches it. Collagen helps support "growth factors" that greatly influence the condition of our skin. In addition to being used for wound healing, collagen helps to keep our skin strong, healthy and supple.
I-Thread dermal threads are made of a dissolvable suture material, which is inserted into the skin to help lift and support tissue (such as jowls), help to replace loss of volume (such as the nasolabial folds). The threads have a bio-stimulatory effect which increase the amount of collagen naturally produced by your body.
The threads gradually breakdown: this process produces small molecular weight molecules, which gradually induce the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid by the skin. As a result, skin becomes more moisturised, revitalised and firm. The threads come in three main types – "smooth" or "short" threads, "long", "lifting" or "hooked" threads and "volumising" threads, all of which are typically used on the face and neck areas.
Threads are ideal for gently firming, lifting, tightening and rejuvenating the skin, though also combat aging in other ways. The threads provoke the body's own healing response and cause the stimulation of collagen and elastin to the treated areas; thus, thickening the skin and improving textural irregularities of the skin.
